Your not getting the best of me germs!!

So I am still suffering with a sore thoat and some swollen glands that are making my ears hurt, but i'm not going to let that get me down. Mrs Groves is off on a work 'team building' weekend and I know if I sit on my butt all weekend doing nothing I will hate myself for it. Soooooooo I have been keeping myself busy.

Put up the new shower curtain.

Added a non-slip matt under the wooden shower matt.
Needed to be trimmed to size.

4 loads of washing!

Filled in the gapes between the celling tiles, we plan to smooth it out and paint it over as it looks a little dated in my opinion.

Doing the same to this little section out side the bathroom and bedroom.

Had to make up a little 'kill room' before sanding.

There! Nice and smooth and ready for some paint...maybe tomorrow as I'm now feeling a little worn out.

At one point today I started hearing this odd beeping noise, it was freaking me out a little as I didn't know where the hell it was coming from. Turns out it was this....

I'll have to pick up some batteries, safety first people!

More power to the engines!

Seeing as I was at home for a good chunk of the day (I have contracted my wife's germs) I decided to do something I had been meaning to do for a while...... upgrade the hard drive on my PS3.

In this age of email it's nice to get a box in the post.

There she be! In all her shiny goodness....i'll even forgive them for all the excess packaging.

I currently have 40gb that has been packed to the max with my wife's 'Singstar' downloads. So being a man I have bumped it up to 500gb!!!

First thing to do was download my data to an external harddrive and it seems that 40gb = 60min. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Now I was ready to roll, I took off the cover and removed the famous PS3 Blue screw.
Geek surgery at its best.

Once the case was out there were a few more small screws to deal with....one in particular gave me some trouble but I got there in the end with help of a pair of pliers.

The New & The Old

Once the new hard drive was in I set her up and got ready to upload all the data from the external drive.

This stayed on the screen for some time.....I got a little worried at one point.

Phew! After a long wait I got the upload screen....and had to wait another hour
before it was all done.

So far all seems fine, I'm interested to see how the extra space effects game play. Been getting a LOT of lag and freezing up of late, so I hope the internet nerds are right because they said this would help.

Well, I'm off to download a load of crap off the internet....bye!

Best laid plans of mice and men...

So last weekend was meant to be the weekend that we striped the plaster off the chiminey stack and exposed the brick work (very NY loft)...... sadly it didn't really turn out as planned.

This was the chimney we planed to strip down to the brick. We felt it would be a nice contrast to all the white.

Had a couple of friends come over the night before to help me move the wood burner.....very heavy indeed, so I owe the guys a drink.

We spent a little time to cover the area in plastic as plaster dust gets everywhere.
Dexter would have been so proud.

Fee was all ready so make a mess is her snazzy new outfit....I was worried
that this might be the last thing I ever see.
Kill room + wife with a claw hammer = Argggggggggg!

So we were all set and we began by taking away a section that was behind the wood burner. Lucky that we did because it turns out that the brick work under the plaster was covered in a very THICK layer of concrete.....bugger!

We did a another patch just to make sure but we found the same layer of super hard concrete. Sadly we had to concede that we could not expose the brick work unless we had some sort of Jack Hammer. So I patch up the hole we had made (thank god we did cover the place in plastic, just that little part created a lot of mess) and painted the wall to freshen it up. We are now doing to plan 'B'.....i'll keep you posted.

Just so the weekend was not wasted we got to work on some other household bits that needed to be done. We added some extra insulation tape to windows to help keep the heat in the the electricity bill down.

Just look at how Eco friendly those windows, come get now Mr Wind!

There use to be a radiator and a hole in the wall here...not anymore.

There was also a radiator and a hole here...again, not anymore.
