Up to speed.

This is the calm before the storm people!

Me and the wife have some major renovation work planned over the upcoming long weekend here in Denmark. So expect some major photo updates to come, but until then I figured I would bring you all up to speed on what I have been up to of late.

Yesterday we had some guests pop by our flat to say Hi and have some Nom. One of then was my very small but very cute German friend.

Beanbags are rather good baby holders it turns out.

"What on Earth are you talking about woman.."

We finally got our Velux blinds though the other day (well over a week ago actually) but being the 'Groves house' things never run smooth. The blinds have two inserts or pull downs, one is for total black out and the other allows some light in without you being seen from the outside. This is where the problems began, I got the one in the guest room all set up...

Screen for black out made.

Screen for not-so-black out mode.

All was going well with the one in the main bedroom until I had to clip in the one for the screens. One clip would just not go into place, I figured I missed something so I went over all my steps. Then I spotted that there was an problem with the Left & Right clips that go on each side. What was the problem you ask? They were BOTH LEFT CLIPS!

You cant really see but there is a big L on each clip...one of the should have a big R.

So we need to pop back to the shop at some point and get it changed which is a real pain in the bum.It took a few weeks for these to arrive so we will probably have to wait for the replacement...oh well.

But as mentioned before we are planning something big for the weekend, so we needed to get lots of DIY supplies. Yay! Man shopping. :)

No, not he Band or the design school....but the DIY store.
We got bags of stuff but i'll show you all that next time.

We will also be need this bad boy for the up coming works....stay tuned!

As well as DIY supplies we also needed to get some shopping for food and other stuff. We have been super busy of late so this was a BIG shop as we were running very low on Nom!

Well, that should keep us going for a few days.
(I couldn't get the rest in shot)

All those years of Tetris paid off.

Skillz...I has thems!

Spotted...

Just a couple of random things I spotted while out and about today.....

When you work for LEGO you get use to seeing some pretty bad rip-off products out there, but I think this 'Cars' bedroom light is one of the ugliest things I have ever seen, that would scare the hell out of a child!

I'm pretty sure this is not officially licensed by Disney/Pixar?

I was surprised to see this today (see below), what with the whole planet focused on 'eco awareness' you would think a global brand like Gillette would think twice about using this much plastic to package a product.

"Hey! I know what will make people buy our product....stick it in a crap load of plastic!"

I'd like to thank God and all the little people...

I got given an award the other day at work from the Danish Adult LEGO fans for my Medieval Village. They voted it 'Set of the year 2009' which was super cool of them, thanks guys!!!

You like me! You really like me!

Weekend in CPH.

So me and the wife packed our bags and headed off up to Copenhargen for the weekend. We used a friends house warming as an excuse to have some fun and chill out in the big city for a few days.

We got back a few hours ago and we are both feeling a little 'burnt out' and looking forward to a good nights sleep....

Our lovely big bed in our hotel.

Our bed not looking so lovely after the weekend...

Mrs Groves makes a fine silhouette.

Big lamp with a freaky skin.
Ewwwww.

Look out Copenhagen!

We went to a really cool Thai place for a cocktail and some food.

You cant book tables at this place so we had to wait a bit.......Fee got very
hungrey and almost went into a coma.

While out and about I spotted this terrible picece of building!
As a LEGO builder I would have started with the Grey brick, thats models design 101!

Very arty AV installation in 'Weekday'

I forgot to take my camara to the house warming party for some silly reason, so no pics. But we had a great time and everybody said how amazing we both were.......heres a reconstruction.

It was just like that.....honest.

I hate the wind!

There I said it!

I hate the wind, and not 1/3 of the of the Chicago based 70's R&B band but the actual wind it's self.

Ok, I know pollen and sailors need to get to places but come on! For the past week all i've had is stuff blown in my eye and my hair blown around so I end up looking like Don King.

You guys are cool....I have no beef with you.

But you!!!! If I see you i'm going to kick you in the nuts!

There, rant over.

Weekend round -up...

Hello internet peeps!

Hope your all doing well out there in 'internet land'.

Been super busy over the past few days with work and home stuff but me and Fee still found time to eat some good food and pop out to see some friends.

Cooked up a mushroom strudel the other day, got inspired from watching the UK version of 'Come Dine With Me'.....but mine tuned out way better than the one on the show if I do say so myself. :P

It's super easy and super yummy, try it yourself.

There's the full dish, we had it with a light salad and some nice bread. I even made a nice tomato based dressing and that was an experiment that tuned out great.

It was surprisingly light considering the pasty.

Friday night me and the wife decided to pop out for some food and we went to try out our new favorite place in Vejle called 'The Lodge'.

Fee updating her FB status telling the world she is about to eat.

I had the capriccio to start, was super tasty and came with a great pesto.

For main I had the Lamb...it was soooooooo good!!

Our side dishes, my fav was the garlic and cheese mash.

I was working on Saturday but in the evening we pop over to Simon's place as he was having a little birthday get together. We don't get to see much of them as they have two young boys, so its always nice to catch up with them.

I even took the opportunity to put on a tie.

Simon made some home made pizza.....this is where it WAS!
It was eaten before I could even get a pic.

And just for fun here is a blurry pic of Matthew and Paul.

Today is not going to be an exiting day, I have a long list of things to do and most of them are boring. Did manage to get some stuff ordered from Amazon that I had been meaning to do for ages and finally got round to writhing up an interview I was asked to to......but more on that later.

The upside to today is that is Fee is making Won-Tons!!! YES!!!!

Easter painting Pt4

Another day and another load of pictures of what we have been up to with the house renovations.......

Started the day with a good cup of tea....it's the fuel of painters!

Whipped up a nice Spinich, Mushroom and Feta Cheese Omlette.

Put the doors to the TV shelves back on after painting the edge's Yellow.

See the change? No?
I added some 'draft exclution' tape to the frame, all part of our Green life style.

Now we have the 'Heat Pump' we can get rid of the old, ugly Electric radiators.

Yep......going to have to paint that wall. Plus there was some random hole behind the frame that does nothing and goes nowhere!?

Again, some more painting needed, but at least we have an Electrician coming in on Tuesday to get rid of that electrical box.

We had a good tidy up today as well.
See that Denmark!? That's how big a trash bag should be!

BEFORE......
This is how the kitchen used to look in all its woody glory.

AFTER....
Fresh new look and feel to the whole kitchen.

Here's another angle of the new Kitchen.

Starting to look like a real kitchen again with all the glass going back on the shelves.

Best looking medicine shelves EVER!

So the kitchen is all done (aside from a couple of touch up here and there) and we can relax again and enjoy our new kitchen......and what better way to do that than with a cocktail!

Happy Easter!
