Bass.Down.Low

Mrs Groves it up in Arhus visiting some friends and having a girly night out, so i'm making some noise, listening to music and maybe hitting the PS3.

Lately I have been missing playing in a group or just creating some music. Sadly there is nobody around who is into the the stuff i'm into and wants to 'jam', so i've been playing around with recording music.

Been using 'Garage Band' on my Mac and its rather good and simple to use. The only down side is the guitars..... they suck. I am getting a nice sound from my Bass and equipment but the guitars aren't really up to the job.

This is my little up and coming home studio.

As a 5 string Bass player I like to play in a lower tuning (B) and mine and Fee's old guitars just can't get to the same tuning without sounding like crap. My guitar was given to me by an old friend many years ago and it has seen better days (it cant even stay in tune for more than 10mins) and Fee's little Telecaster just can't tune down to a 'B' because the strings get too floppy.

No floppy string here, just smooth and heavy tones.

Plus it's all going though a Bass rig with makes the guitars sound really odd, been recommended a 'Pod XT' by a buddy that I can run the guitars through. This should help but if the guitars are not up to the job it wont help that much. :/

If only I had one of these.....

7 strings would help.... a lot.

I wont get getting that government job now...

So i'm getting pretty excited for May.... why? Because that's when I will be paying Judd Ripley a visit to get some more ink! Yes, the man who did my neck and sleeve will again be working his magic on me.

"So what are you getting done Nik?"

I'm keeping it a little under my hat for now as details are not worked out but I will be getting a couple of pieces done. One will be filling a space I have on the back of my right arm and the the other will be ON MY KNUCKLES! I guess it wasn't going to take me long to get my hands done after getting my neck inked.

I'll keep you posted as and when things develop on the tattoo front... watch this space. :)

Taken at our last session for the Kabuki sleeve.

The post-it-note doodle collection continues...

Honestly, I am a mature 30yr old designer...... and not a simpleton who doodles monkeys on post-its.

Monkeys are just big show offs!

"Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love you Tomorrow...."

Today has meant to be one of those super productive days when you get loads of stuff done.... well sadly todays has been very unproductive.

Fee is on a work trip and I never sleep well when she is not around, so I was rather tired this morning. Combine that with my teeth killing me from my dental appointment yesterday and you have one grumpy designer. :(

Work was just super manic today and I had to step in to break up a stupid little argument between two other designers. Lucky not in a physical way, just two people arguing via email about who should do what. So in the end I said i would do it and save us all the bickering!

Spent most of the day running around to be ready for a meeting that was then canceled 20mins before it was due to start. That really annoys me.

Had to call the electricity company today and that was a disaster, I hate using the phone so much. I wont go into details but it involved a lot of waiting, people moaning about my Danish and getting cut off. I even shouted "BLOODY HELL!" so load that it made a few people stop and look over...sorry guys. Of course the only time I had to do this was lunch time so I ended up NOT eating. :/

"I'm going to find where you live and *&^$#@# you!"

So I figured I would get home pay some bills and relax..... but there is this new online banking system thing that I have not used before (Fee normaly does it) and I can figure it out.

Motto of this story..... don't ever let your super amazing wife who knows how to do adult things go away for one night!....ever!

Come home soon!

Happy New Year....EAT EAT!!

So here are a few pics from our first Chinese New Year party in DK. Not sure why we have not done it before but i'm sure we will do it again!

We started to prep stuff the night before and got started early the next day. Here's Fee demonstrating how to fold a Won-ton.

Our French friend FX came over a little early to help and
pick up some Chinese cooking tips.

This plate was FULL by the end....and so were two more plates with various dumplings. Mmmmmmmm.

Spring-Roll manufacturing in full swing.

Santi and his mom Patti enjoying some candy.
We needed Patti there as she is actually Chinese!

Little Ella is a little suspicious of me and always keeps an eye on me.

Amelie however is more than happy to hang out with me as long as I have fruit
and toys that light up.

There they are.....just look at them eating all MY food!

Fee and Adrian became the best of friends.

Silence....

Phew!

We had a big group of friends over to celebrate the fact it was Chinese new year and we are now enjoying the silence. Most of our friends now have kids so the place was a buzz of activity, drool, playing and crying.

I'll do a full post in the week because me and Fee whipped up some super tasty home made Chinese food but I just don't have the energy now.... sorry.

We did however find some time to race babies:

Vroooom!

Hey hey people!

Sorry it's been a little silent on the blog front but I have been VERY busy of late. Work has been super busy and I had a Danish test to get my head round so i've not really had the time or energy to blog.

However I bring good news, I passed my Driving Theory test today! Thats the written part with all the rules of the road and what you should and should not do in a car. It was a stressful day as I get super nervous with any test and this was no exception! I didn't even eat lunch I was so nervous. :/

So i'm glad thats over, now its all systems go for the practical test, no date set yet but it wont be too far away...... so stay off the roads!

"Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
