Fish, Chairs, Family & Cupcakes...

What a whirlwind the past week has been for the Groves house. Great food, great friends and visits from loved ones have made it a great week. Here's the rundown....

Tuesday was 'Fishy Tuesday' and we went over to our friends Christine's place where we drank some wine and she cooked some great tasting fish.

Crunchy topped fish with new potatoes and root vegetables all with a butter source.... Mmmm

This is a first for me, turns out you can now buy a Tie & Beer box set for Xmas.
GO DENMARK!

In the 'bargain of the year' Fee managed to pick up a Wegner rocking chair for a great price!
Miffy seems to like it.

LOOK! IT'S PAPA GROVES!
My Dad and sister came over for a swift visit which was so nice..... he still had to watch the football tho.

My Little Sister (The Elf), My Dad and my Wife.

The Groves Family.

We went out for a nice dinner at 'The Lodge' and had some good food... the desert was also rocking!

The cocktails in the bar after were rather strong and we did not last too long.. Haha

Fee picked up some great cupcakes from the little bakery in Vegle.
Amazing!

Today marked the first 'open fire' of the winter..... Cosy.

They came, They saw, They ate....

This weekend we had Fee's Parents over for a little visit. It was a relaxed affair that took the form of eating some home cooked food Mama had brought over. However just o mix things up a little we popped out for a little drive on Sunday to 'Hopballe Møller'. It's a cute old farm/mill out in the countryside that has a gallery, a little shop and a rather good restaurant.

Signs and arrows are rather helpful.

A cute old Morris Minor taking a little drive through the countryside.

Fee.... not as relaxed as she would normally be in such a pretty place.

What this one?....and what this one?....and what this one?

Mama in all her regal glory.

You don't often get an 'unposed' shot of Mama and Baba.

Mama & Yan Yan

Just to mark the occasion I made some tasty Cheesecake.
We ate a lot of this. Mmmmm

Itchy fingers, chicken pie, boxing and the rapture...

My oh my!, what a weekend this has been.

We had a long weekend here in DK as Friday was 'big prayer day', sadly Fee had to pop into work so I made use of the the quite time here to tidy up the flat and cook up a storm in the kitchen.

Dinner that night was home made chicken & sweet corn pie with garlic roasted wedges.
So nice, will have to do this again.

As well as a tasty dinner I was once again called upon to whip up a Cheesecake, this time I did the full size version of the Oreo cookie cake I did the other week. We had been invited over to Christine's for dinner and we were in charge of bringing desert.

Mmmmm more Cheesecake.... this one was mighty good and I ate far too much of it.

I was worried we may not get to eat it seeing as 'The Rapture' was meant to be hitting this Saturday. However I figured all the best Metal bands would be in Hell anyway so I would be OK if things did happen. \m/

As I waited for Fee & the rapture I had a little drink.
"Cheers!"

My fingers are rather itchy now, I have to be careful not to scratch at them.
The Tattoo on my arm is healing well and I promise to get a pic up soon.

So it seemed the end of the world had been put off for a while and we decided it was safe to go out and see Christine. We were not the only guests for dinner that night as Sven; Lizze and little Amelie were also on the guest list.

"Look Amelie, his going to Hell when the rapture comes."

"You is going to helllll"

We even had a little visiter from next door in the form of a cute little French Bull-dog puppy. The little thing got so excited it peed a little, cute but messy. It also turns out Amelie likes animals.... but only from a safe distance while in somebody's arms.

Both parties safely separated.... for now!

We had a great night with yummy food and lots of Cheese cake and great friends, but the main event was the boxing match beetween my cousin George Groves and his bitter rival James Degale.

'St George Groves'
I'm glad I was nice to him when he was a little boy.

Degale was cocky, rude and smug all though out the lead up to this fight. George kept his cool and came out the bigger man for it.

However, no amount of smugness saved Degale from losing to George (for the SECOND time I might add) on points. George used his head and out boxed Degale who was thrown off his game. It was a tough fight indeed and me & Fee almost passed out a few times, I also think we gave the people next door a heart attack when George won because we screamed SOOOO LOUD!!!

Bruised, bloody but over the moon.
Well done mate, we are all VERY proud of you.

Steam boat...

I tottaly forgot to post pics of the 'steam boat' we had at my in-laws place on Boxing day. Basically you have a big pot of hot soup and you add dumplings, cold cuts, veg and fish balls. It's super tasty and a fun way to eat, I stuffed my face.

That was only a faction of the food we ate.

Very 'proper' family photo, just look how excited my father in-law is on the far left.

This is the other half of the family photo.... spot the odd one out!

Helpful neighbors and Family.

When you own your own place there is no landlord to call upon if there is a problem, and last we we had one. The sink was not draining at all, I took apart the pipes to see if there was a block but all was clean....that meant the problem was further down the line.

Fee had a chat with our downstairs neighbors (Rita) to see if she had a problem. She gave us a bottle of 'Flydende Afløbsrens' to help..... and it did! I don't know what's in it but I'm sure you could dissolve a body in a bath tub if you needed to.

Whatever this stuff is.... don't drink it!

We got her a replacement bottle and put a little "Tak!" card on it.

We had Fee's Mum and Dad come over for the weekend to hang out. Nothing major to tell, we cooked, chatted a little and chilled out. It's nice to see family but it even better to have your home back to yourself.

Yan-Yan getting some tips from her Dad.

I showed Mama how to make Cheese cake.... it didn't last long.

Sibling violence.

Saw this and it reminded me of when me and my brother had pillow fights....sadly I was the younger one.

The Elf graduates..Pt2

After the ceremony we all had a rest and shower back at the hotel (Dad and Spencer waited for us in the pub) before we met up for dinner and drinks.

Cool little slider sign to tell the hotel owners if you were in or out....tonight we were definitely out!

The first stop was a nice Italian restaurant called 'Martinis', the food was nice (I had risotto and cheese cake....not at the same time) and we all toasted to Abi's future success.

Spencer looking a little worried here....I think the beer was taking a more than 2min to arrive! HELP!

Micheal was pleased to see the arrival of 'chili oil'...he is a big fan of spicy food.

After dinner we took our full belly's out for some fresh air and to look for a nice place to get a drink. We found a cool bar (can remember the name, sorry) and plotted up for a a drink or two...or three...or six!

Cool Dad!
At one point in the night he was talking about going to a rave or a foam party...wtf?!

The girls talking about...cocktails?...shoes?...men?..shopping?...take your pick.

Some crazy but tasty cocktails were had...yum yum!

"....and that's how you punch a guy in face"

Micheal realising he does not like Jagermeister, and after washing it down with a Red Bull he soon realised he didn't like that!

Micheal is a rather jolly guy....

...even in close up, just look how happy he is.

So once the bar closed we all said out goodbyes and set off back to out hotels. We had a flight to catch so we wanted a decent nights sleep before the stress of traveling home. We got back in once piece but it was a long day of trains and planes. When the hell are the going to get teleporting up and running!!!

Little Elf graduates..Pt1

Been back from the UK a few days now but I came back with a killer cold and not really been in the mood to blog, sorry. However I'm here now and ready to update you all on what happened, there are loads of pics so i'll break it up a little.

Our Friday in London was spent at the UK passport office, Fee needed to get her new passport with there married name (Groves) in it. I wont go into details but it was a nightmare that shaved 5 years off my life and gave me high blood pressure....but she now has the passport which is a good thing.

We got the train up to Bath where the graduation was taking place, never been there before but it is a really pretty place and I would recommend if you have not been. Kind of wish we have visited Abi at some other point....oh well.

Bath is an old city and full of things like this, pretty right?

People even play Cricket here, how English is that!
I think he whipped his bails off with that one.

Once we got to our cute little hotel we dumped our bags and hit the town as Fee and me needed a big drink after the day we had. My Dad and Brother LOVE a beer so they were on a mission to drink as much as possible, me and the girls needed some food after a little while so we ran off for a curry..Yum!

One of the many, many pubs we went too that night.

Abi had to get my Dad a burger and chips on the way home from Mr D's burger van. Apparently this was the best burger he had ever had....he was rather drunk at the time.

The next morning my Dad, Spencer (my brother) and Toby (Abi's boyfriend) were a little hung over....Spencer didn't make it to breakfast and now has the nickname 'kebab pants' but i'll spear you the story that goes along with that one.

Pop, Toby, Spencer and Fee.
We went to the Uni Early with Abi to get her gown and photos done, so we hung around which gave some people the chance to re-hydrate a little.

The Bath Spa University has a very pretty campus with some nice old building like this.

So after a long time sitting in a hot test listening to boring people talk and clapping until our hands hurt it was finally Abis turn to go up. Well done Sis!

Awwww the little Elf is all grown up*

The classic.

Toby and Spencer were still nursing a hangover at the time.

Pop, Me, Abi, Toby, Spencer.

Stop nagging, i'm trying to take a picture!

I think we were teasing Toby about being shorter than Abi..Awwww.

It was a nice day and we managed to get out of there before it rained, the plan was to get some food then rest up for a night out.....so stay tuned for pt2!

*When Abi was little I convinced her she was a Elf from the bottom of the garden that we adopted because she grew to big for the rest of the Elf's to look after.......what?....dont look at me like that!
