I'm not dead!

Hey gang!

Guess you were wondering where I have been the past few days?

Long story short, Fee and me have been painting... A LOT! We are attempting to paint our whole apartment in a week, its a tall order but we are making great progress. So expect some mega image updates soon of our cool pad. :)

This is the kind of look we're going for.

Quick update..

Hey gang, how you been out there?

Figured I would drop you all a line to let you know what I have been up to...

Tuesday night me and Mike went up to Arhus to see 'Soulfly' live in concert. Not seen them in years so I was looking forward to seeing them after all this time. All in all it was a good show but the crowed was a little 'thin' on the ground, so the pit could have been better.....but i'll take what I can get.

Soulfly hitting the stage.

It was good to see Max on stage again, he has put on a few pounds and those dreads have turned into one big....dread, but he was on good form as always. One this that did make me and Mike laugh was that we could never understand what he was saying when he was telling people the song titles.

"This next song is called...Aghhhhhhhhnummmbhtereihr!

Last night Fee and me went over to Sven & Lissy's for football and Pizza, and being German they were very worried that the national team would go out of the Wold Cup. England had won their game so now it was all down to Germany.

Amalie getting into the football spirit.

The game was good and Germany managed one goal to put them though to the final 16....so that means it's Germany Vs England this sunday! We may not be friends with Lissy and Sven after sunday...

In other news, we finally found some time for Fee to give me a good hair cut. She's getting very good and i'm very pleases with the outcome. :)

I even pulled the old denim jacket out of the closet to help finish off the 'Rocker' look....aparently it's the 'in' look at the moment.

POW! take that sucker!

So here I was at home chilling out and relaxing my brain after doing a heap load of Danish homework when I happen to flick onto Eurosport....and who should I see? None other than the Commonwealth Super Middle weight boxing champion George Groves. That's my cousin if you didn't know!

This was when he fought Adamu a little while ago for the title and won with a technical knock out...plus he is still undefeated.

Kapow!

Its very odd to watch him on TV, him and my little sister are the same age and I used to take them to the park or babysit them. I'm kind of glad I was nice to him back then as he could probably kill me with one punch now!

Doing the Groves name proud! :)

Curry & Football...a real English night!

Hey gang!

Sorry for the lack of post, its been 'one of those weeks' where all I wanted to do was eat and sleep when I got back from work.

However we figured we would get a couple of friends over on Friday night to have a curry and watch the England game. I'm not a big fan fo spicy food but I do like the odd curry if it's done right. We ended up making two curries in the end...a rich Red Beef curry and a creamy Chicken Coconut curry. We have some good curry pastes but I always like to add to them and make a paste with much more flavor, so out came the little blender and in went a mix of good ingredients.

This is the very quick version but trust me when I say it was sooooo good!

As for the football, it was not a good game at all. I'm not the biggest football fan but even I know that we played like crap. So we have to win our next game to go though...I don't hold out a lot of hope. Everybody figured we would walk all over the other teams in out group but it goes to show that some people can be a little too 'cocky'..... like this English news paper.

Riiiight...whatever you say.

Today is what I like to call a 'cat day', all we have done is eat, play games and nap.... although there is some washing in the dyer so the day was not a total loss. It's a rainy day out there so its a great day to do nothing. It feels like a Sunday without the 'back to school blues' you get on a Sunday evening. Tomorrow will be a bit of a study day as we both have Danish test on Monday...ekk!

Ps.

Is this the cutest pictures in the world?....probably.

"Hvad test?!"

I have a Danish lesson every Monday at work as part of my attempted to intergrate into Danish life.....and today I had my level One test!

This was news to me and my class mate Matt as we did not do any prep work so we were a little worried to say the least. However things went well and I managed to pass the test, so now I have to get ready for my level Two test.....which is NEXT MONDAY! :/

That hat looked cool on me, I dont care what the other kids said.

98% done..

Well the floors pretty much all done now, just some lose ends to clean up but its looking really nice....I think i'll drop stuff on the floor just for the hell of it.

Starting to look like a real kitchen again.

Mads will be back Monday to clean up this edge and add a little step, then we will be 100% finished.

Slate-tastic...

Yesterday we finally got started with the new floor in the kitchen. Stage one was to get the dishwasher out and disconected so Mads tile under the washer.

Out you come.

He looks kind of sad sitting there all disconected.
(iPhone pic)

Next he add to laydown this waterproof sheeting to help stop water getting into the wood.
(iPhone pic)

Mmmmm slate.

At this point I had to go to work (have to pay for all these renovations some how!) but our friend Lissy came over with baby Amilie to house sit for us. We even make them some nice bread as they would not be able to get into the kitchen all day.

Homemade bread, some plain and some with raisens...yum!
(iPhone)

So once I got home I got to see the progress so far, it was about 80% done but we still could not walk on it. The 'paste' underneath was still not dry so we all decided to hang out and get a take away instead of cooking.

Almost there...

Sven, Lissy, Amilie, Fee and me ordered some pizza and pasta, hung out and had a few beers. It was fun if not a little messy....

See what I mean.

Amilie had never had the TV on during dinner time before...lets just say a lot of the food missed its target.

As for the floor, Mads is here now filling in all the gaps and cleaning the floor up a bit. We may have to order a special sized 'step' for the edge that leads out of the kitchen but lets see. Tonight we are going to watch the England vs USA game at a friends place, I'm not a huge football fan but it is the world cup after all.

COME ON ENG-ER-LAND!!!! :)

Bit of a waste....

Today did not go completely according to plan.....

Today was meant to be the day that Mads (the floor guy) was meant to come over and start laying the new Slate kitchen floor..... that did not happen.

Long story short, he got stuck on another job where the basement he had tiled the day before had flooded.... which is not good. But that still involved me sitting at home when I should have been at work waiting for him to call. He finally did call later in the day and I gave him the 'grumpy' treatment. I basically told him 'you come now or not at all' and to his credit he did. He came over at 6pm (very rare for a Danish workman) to deliver the materials and get the floor ready for tiling on Friday morning....

Fingers crossed this will be covered in nice dark slate tomorrow.

I know, I know, its a great wooden floor and yes it's a shame to cover it but its a real PAIN to keep clean in the kitchen area. Every drip, splash or blob of food that hits the floor leaves a stain that is hard to clean off..... so don't hate me.

Hail Destroyer!!

Started getting into 'Cancer Bats' big time at the moment! I have had this song pretty much on a loop all day.....sorry team. :)

Head bang to this!

Pesto!

With everything thats been going on lately I totally forgot to post this up. Roasted pine nuts & asparagus pesto...yum yum!

Roast up some Asparagus with pine nuts, garlic and just a touch of honey . Don't forget to season well and add a little olive oil.

Once roasted (make sure not to over cook, you just want them to brown a little) add to a blender with some Basil leaves and hit GO!

Whizz the mixture until smooth or as chunky as you like like.

Ta-da!
It keeps for a good while in the fridge so you don't have to use it all at once.

I'm back baby!

Hey internet peeps!

So how have you all been since we last saw each other? Good I hope...

Fee and me got back into DK last night after a rather 'mixed' weekend in London. All in all the trip was good and even tho we were there for some rather sad circumstances we still managed to make the best of things.

The day of my Grandads funaral was a nice sunny day and we could not have asked for better weather, so he had a nice send-off. It was only close family and it was actually very nice to see them all and catch up....but that's enought of the sad news.

For obvious reasons I did not take the D90, so here are some random iPhone pics for you to feast your eyes upon.

Coconut bubble peal tea from 'HK Dinner' in China town. Fee and me always try and grab some food and our favorite drink from this place when we're in London.

Two for one cocktails....sounded like a good idea at the time.

Normally when we hit London we hit it HARD and do some serious shopping, but again that was not the point of this trip as we were spending as much time as we could with family. However we did pick up a couple of bit's when we were out and about meeting people....we just couldn't resist.

Grabbed a few DVD's and CD's that were on offer at the Airport.... just don't tell me how they all end!

This is a great comeback album....a must buy if you don't already have it!

We really needed to get a new suitcase (pictures of that when it's not full of crap!) and while we were there we got this set of scales. Handy with all these luggage restrictions on airlines today.

This mould is for making chocolate spoons.....need I say more.

Sunday was nice as we meet up with Mama for brunch and my Dad came along, once we had our yummy brunch we said our goodbyes to 'Pop' and Mama kindly drove us to the airport. It was a typical wait in the airport but the flight back was not fun....at all. I wont go into detail about it but needless to say I will never be flying with Ryanair again.

Never again shall you have a penny of my money.

I Popped into work early but I had really bad stomach cramps from a meal in London. I was not feeling great on the plane and last night was not good at all. So I decided to take some work home, which is nice because I cant normally do that as a LEGO builder.

I had to build through one of my models to make sure the building instructions are OK, and this was a BIG model so that took up most of the day.

The rest of the day was spent paying bills, doing washing, trying to tidy up a bit and sorting out dates/times for people to come over and do work at the apartment. So blogging should resume as normal from now on and I will be thrilling you with my daily activitys like crime fighting and developing mutant super powers. Peace out!

PS.

I was rocking the 'skeleton' tee today :)

Pop comes to Vejle Pt2

So after spending the morning with 'nature' we came home for a nice coffee and some cake. I'm not a big coffee drinker but I do late a Latte now and again....turns out so does my Dad. So in the spirit of adventure I attempted a homemade latte which turned out rather well.

Home made Soy milk Latte with organic chocolate topping...nice!

What better way to have coffee than with a nice piece of cake.

After our coffee we all have a little sit down and re-charged our battaries, but there was not much time to hang around because it was EUROVISION night! We tend to have a party every year so we can all watch the contest and giggle at the silly outfits and songs.

We whipped up some food and everybody brought somthing from their home contries...it was a good international spread. :)

If there is a baby or an animal in the house, you can be sure it will be magnetically drawn to my Dad!

I'm not normally on this side of the camera...so when Nick (the Swedish representative) tried out the D90 there was nothing I could do but strike a pose!

The gang getting into the contest.

Pop marking down his scores....yes we have score cards, dont you?

Amelie was enjoying her first Eurovision party.

Jason pulled 'Germany' out of the hat and they won the night, so he won the money (everybosy pays 10dkk to pull a name out). This shot was taken just before he rubbed the money over his nipples.

He also won the people choice award, this is based on the scores people put on their score cards....Germany was the fav of the night.

So a great night was had by all, especially once the Jelly shots and drinking games got started. Needless to say a few people were a little hung over the next day. Roll on Eurovision 2011!!!

Ps...

I am off to London today and my Dad does not have internet (WTF!) so I dont know when you'll be seeing me again. So stay cool and have a great weekend. :)
